Privacy policy

1. In short
Optimo analyses the state of your phone. The vast majority of that analysis — scanning photos, detecting duplicates, listing apps, battery history, app usage statistics — happens entirely on your device and never leaves it. The only things sent off your phone are your account details and a basic description of your device model, described in sections 3 and 4.
2. Data that never leaves your phone
The following stays on your device and nowhere else: the contents and names of your photos and videos, duplicate comparison results, the list of installed apps with their size and usage time, per-app network usage, battery level and temperature history, and statistics about your use of Optimo itself (session count, time, most-opened tab). We do not send this information anywhere and do not share it. It is gone when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
3. Account data
If you create an account we use Firebase Authentication (Google Ireland Limited). With e-mail sign-in we process your e-mail address and account identifier. With Google sign-in we additionally process the name and profile picture URL provided by Google — the picture is fetched each time it is displayed and we keep no copy of it. A guest account is anonymous: it holds no e-mail address and no personal data. We never see your password; it is held by Firebase alone.
4. Device synchronisation
For signed-in users we store a list of your devices in Cloud Firestore so it can be shown in Settings. We store: manufacturer, model, Android version, API level, date of last launch, and the ANDROID_ID identifier that distinguishes one of your devices from another. We do not store any files, contacts, app lists or battery readings there. Guest accounts synchronise nothing.
5. Diagnostics and crashes
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and Firebase Analytics for basic statistics (for example a sign-in event). Crash reports contain the device model, system version and the place in the code where the error occurred. They do not contain your files or screen contents.
6. Permissions and why they exist
Photos and videos — to find large files and duplicates; the scan runs locally and deleting a file is always confirmed by you in an Android system dialog. Usage access (granted manually in system settings) — to show which apps take the most space, time and data. Notifications — to warn about battery overheating or a background scan result. Foreground service — so temperature monitoring works while the app is closed. Killing background processes — for the “Clear memory” feature. Internet — for sign-in and synchronisation. You can revoke any of these in system settings; the app will simply disable the matching feature.
7. Deleting your data
Data held on your phone is removed by uninstalling the app or clearing its data in system settings. You can delete your account together with the stored device list yourself, immediately: Settings → “Delete account”. That removes your account document and the device list, and it cannot be undone. It does not cover the crash reports and analytics events described in section 5 — those reach Firebase through a separate channel, unconnected to your account. If you prefer us to do it for you, write to us via the “Contact” card — we handle such requests within 30 days.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, rectify it, erase it, restrict its processing, port it, and object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Account data is processed to perform our agreement with you (providing account features); diagnostic data is processed under our legitimate interest in keeping the app stable.
9. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We will announce material changes to this policy in the Google Play update notes and by changing the date at the top of this document. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the new version.
